I can also spend $550 for these less appealing flights (8pm departure instead of a desired 730am and a redeye home instead of a noon flight). I'm thinking that may be the better option and then i'll just risk it. Btw my stash of $50 e-certs from my platnium amex and chase ultimate rewards points should cover the bulk of the flight.
