What would be the point of air shipping such items?

Engines are certainly long lead time items. There is no need for shipping speed, so land/sea would be cheaper.

I could see shipping by air in some abnormal situations, but why have a flight for this? It could easily go on a connecting flight. The extra cost of that over a direct would be miniscule compared to flying a regular semi cargo flight just to transport the beast.
