I am puzzled by another question still though. If I have 5K points ineligible for transfer and redeem a ticket with 15K points, will Citi automatically use those 5K points ineligible for transfer first (and take another 10K from the "advanced" TYP pool eligible for transfer)?
Citi will use the points set to expire soonest first. Points earned from CCs don't expire anymore (I think?), whereas points from banking and "adjustment" points do (I believe). So, if my two guesses turn out to be correct, then yes, they would use those points first.
