The question is, is this better or worse than the US Airways method of just hanging up on you if you don't call the elite number?
During that the callback wasnt being given as an option, and I too got stuck in that vortex of AA's hold system. I got on hold at 9pm and fell asleep to awaken at 130am and still was on hold. I gave up and called back the next day.
And to the guy who said just go to the airport... clearly you dont live in DFW during one of these events. Its not uncommon to have 4-5 hour lines for ticket counter/agents. I've seen 2+ hour waits in the Admirals Club as well. And driving to the airport doesnt do you much good when they notify you at 10pm of a cancellation for the 9am departure and you get the text "unable to auto rebook, please contact reservations"...
