Think of it this way ... You generally only use one credit card to purchase an airline ticket, as such the benefits of the card that you pay with is associated with it.
If someone comes with the corner case that states I pay 51% of the benefits with my AA exec card and 49% with the AA Silver, then AA Exec card would take it ... if you then state 50/50 down the middle, one would say pick one or the other but not both.

I don't have either of these cards, but from reading other posts it sounds like just having the card gets you the benefits (i.e. AA account updated) and you do not have to purchase the ticket with the card (unless you want the extra points/miles offered). So I would expect having two cards with the same benefit would not double the benefit.
