Now, if this guy is not in the military but "enjoys" wearing military attire fine but I would strongly suggest that he wear his uniforms in the bedroom instead of a public venue. Uniform fetish/fantasy? Good for you! But wearing a "fake" military uniform out in public could cause problem. I say keep it in the bedroom/dungeon/fetish/uniform club scene. Furthermore, military members traveling with military ID are typically allowed to pass through Pre Check? That would look pretty bad trying to explain to a TSA agent why the military member lacked that "card". Years ago, I lost my military ID card and can tell you the humiliation I had to endure having that replaced. For those in the USAF even worse, losing a line badge.
I'll have to watch the next time I'm in line with a uniformed service member and see what ID they present. I'm not sure right now that a military member flying in uniform is required to show a military ID. If they have a valid drivers license then that meets the requirement. Interesting question.

As an aside I was sharing this with my wife who is a current CAC holder as a DoD civil servant. She does show her CAC going through TSA PreCheck security as she's found it's easier and quicker to get out than her drivers license. She's not required to show it. She doesn't carry it for personal travel and especially not when we're traveling overseas. She has used her drivers license or passport even though her PreCheck was acquired via the DoD CAC system. Of course she's recently enrolled in the GE program and is slowly but surely replacing her DoD CAC KTN with the GE TTN and using that even on her official travel.

I also showed her the clip of the potential "stolen valor" lieutenant. She agrees that his ACUs look a bit weird but she also knows that even in the military folks show up with strange uniform configurations. Luckily there's usually some senior NCO who will quietly take the soldier, even an officer, aside and point out their mistakes. Depending on relative rank that sometimes can be less than pleasant. The second issue she noticed was that the "lieutenant" didn't produce a CAC when asked for ID. She agrees it looks suspicious but she offered that it's not totally out of line to refuse to show your military ID to a civilian just because they ask for it. Technically it's none of their business.
