I just got over food poisoning at the Homewood Suites Charlotte Ballantyne presumably from sausage gravy that was not correctly heated/served.

In speaking with the manager, I asked if any other guests had complained that day, and he stated not to his knowledge, but was extremely apologetic and asked if I needed anything, providing complimentary Ginger Ale to help with the nausea.

Assuming it passed like mine did, I'd say in a situation like this, accept the refund for the meal and move on.

While food poisoning is never a pleasant experience, it can and does happen everywhere. If you had contracted a more serious strain of say salmonella or e coli, then I'd say that appropriate compensation would be due (i.e. paying your doctor bills).

You could forward your concerns to Marriott Corporate, who might throw a few points your way, but I certainly wouldn't expect them.
