Food Poisoning, Zero Effort From Staff To Compensate. Help?

First time posting here...

I stayed at a Marriott in Windsor, CT in January and got food poisoning from the restaurant on property. I've eaten the same meal every time I fly up there for work for awhile now and it has never bothered me before. Two hours after eating I ended up having...stomach issues (not going to be too graphic, but the condition was severe and messy and resulted in zero sleep that night and 24-36 hours of not being able to eat). The internet also did not work that night.

The morning after, as soon as I was able to get downstairs I let the front desk know and a manager came over to have me fill out a survey about what happened. Then she said "sorry" and left. There was zero attempt at resolving the issue, offering compensation or anything.

A couple of emails later from other management giving me the same survey and then communication stopped.

I tweeted them and corresponded through email. Got a response from management again:

"After researching your claim of food poisoning (thank you for providing the information that you did), I am able to report back that I do not believe you were exposed to any food borne illnesses at the River City Grille. If you would like however, I am able to refund you for your meal, as it may have been too rich (Béarnaise sauce alone is too much for me!), and your body may have reacted negatively to it, and I certainly don’t want you to leave feeling as if you paid for something that you were not satisfied with. Please let me know how you would like to proceed and I’ll do my best to make it a speedy process for you.

Kind Regards,"

Needless to say, I was insulted by this type of customer service and response, especially after having no sincere apology or attempt at resolution previously.

I absolutely feel that compensation is necessary, especially at this point, but not sure what to ask for. I've seen posts about smaller things like no internet (which also happened that night) and unclean rooms getting up to 15k without asking. I'm now asking because I was literally made ill. Thoughts on what's reasonable?

Thanks!
