I just spoke by phone with the Sunpass call center. I wanted to know whether the I-Pass from the Illinois Tollway was compatible with their network. I was told "not yet". (Also, the EZPass is not compatible.)
But I was told that I could purchase a "Sunpass Sticker" for $4.95 from a kiosk at the Orlando International Airport and then add money to that account and use it in my rental car instead of the rental company's toll payment system. (I was also warned to tell the rental company that I would not be using their system.)
As has been said already, those (ripoff) systems run from $3.95 a day and up, so a one time charge of $4.95 for the sticker, and the ability to keep the sticker and reuse it (I don't intend to stick it on the car if I can help it.) makes a great deal of sense.
I am there next week. I'll see how it works.
