Indeed. I was towards the front of a refurbished A319 cabin and my knees were wedged hard against the seat in front. Presumably these rows forward of the exit row have the extra inch of seat pitch so it must be even worse at the back. I was travelling with a small laptop bag only (having checked my main bag into the hold) and there was no way that was going underneath the seat in front as well.
