Book two seats for one person on one flight allowed?

Hi all

I have a rather strange question, hoping one of you Yoda's can answer.

Am I allowed to have two reservations on one flight? Example: a seat in J and a seat in EY..Obviously I have not cloned myself so only one seat will be utilised.
