You'll probably not have much luck trying to get a reason out of bureaucrats anywhere about a rejected application, but as the rest have said it's bad timing cos the island is getting a bit too hot and crowded and the elections are coming up. Either get your prospective employer to up your salary to a level no local can easily get or ask your former employer to rehire you if you really wish to stay in SG. All the best.
