The best thing to do is familiarize yourself with ticket pricing by searching often. You will see trends in pricing and start to notice what constitutes a low fare. Now, waiting to get the absolute lowest price in the past has usually bitten me in the .... Everyone's tolerance for best price is different. I have found generally the closer in the higher the price because the cheaper seats have already been sold. Plus, seat choice gets tighter too. Just my opinion.
