I'd have to disagree. J seating is a lottery - from best in class to very worst. If sleep matters, QR is an avoid until they become consistent.
Food and IFE are inconsistent. The bad J seats also tend to have ancient IFE too (like the VS A340-300s). Food in J seems to only cater for having lunch/dinner OR Breakfast. They don't seem to carry enough for both.
Don't count on the lounge in Doha either. The Doha lounge is vast, but staffed by stretched workers. And the morning peak means its hard to find room in it. Its a zoo - and a very unpleasant one at that.
Some QR cabin crew are wonderful, but there are others who are clearly afraid for their jobs, and that takes the sheen off service, even if they try to hide it.
Ground handling is nt great either. Arrive on an A380 in J and wait for (often very very slow) F to all get off - after the fawning goodbyes from crew - at which point most of Y is off and ahead of you in the next queue.
And don't check bags. You think BA is bad? Try 50+ mins at HKG for 'priority' bag delivery - this was the final straw for me and QR.
It is all individual taste, but the product is SO inconsistent, Doha is such a zoo, so I can think (and find) better ways to fly.
(I suspect the QR '5 star airline' must have been awarded by FIFA too... it does not match my experience, which is more 3 star Virgin on a bad day.)
