Of course, one of the problems with at-gate confirmation of elite certificate upgrades is the fact that no meal is guaranteed, let alone getting your choice entree. One would hope the waiting list for u/gs is consulted when calculating meal loads in the front, if this rediculous C0 situation continues on domestic routes. I can understand not having meals for op upgrades -- the reason for those notations on the boarding pass ML*2 etc. -- but AC needs to re-examine their policy vis a vis elites, and deal with it in the same way UA does: 1Ks are given first choice on entrées, then PremEx and STARGolds, then everyone else. My last two flights in C on SE upgrade certs left me without a choice, and in one case with a Y meal. This tends to happen a lot on A319/320/321 flights.

But wide body catering is also superior to that found on narrow body flights, even if the duration of the trip and the menu is the same.
