Trying to understand the information I've gathered recently from one of the staff at the property and from an Andaz phone rep.

Can someone clarify how points booking for suite rooms works? I'd like to book a suite using points. I thought I could do so if the website showed suite rooms available. However, the website does not show the suite room available when the 'show points' checkbox is checked, although 2 different types of suite rooms are available during the 2 nights I'm searching (with 'show points' unchecked).

The Andaz phone rep advised that the suite rooms are not available using points for the dates I'm interested in.

She also advised that suite reservations require a minimum 3 night stay. I haven't found that anywhere on the property's website, but presume the rep is correct.

I understand that a paid stay in a standard room can be upgrade to a suite room using points, but I'm trying to use points rather than pay the high cash rates and corresponding resort fee and sales tax at this property.

This property also has responded and advised that a standard room booked with points can be upgraded to a suite room, but the upgrade must be paid in dollars. Specifically, $250 + 10% resort fee + 13% sales tax for the Andaz Suite, or $350 + 10% + 13% for the Bay View Suite.

Especially in light of the current 20% points rebate, it seemed like changing one of our 2 rooms from standard to suite would be an inexpensive way to make our stay even more luxurious. But it sounds like we may need to settle for having 2 standard rooms for our family of 4.

Also, an update regarding connecting/adjoining rooms: I received this information from the staffer at the property when asking if any of the suite rooms are adjoining to standard rooms: 'Andaz Suite will be adjoining to and Andaz twin, and the Andaz View Suite will be adjoining to an Andaz Bay View Twin. For these two suite types, there is no option for connecting only adjoining.' Perhaps I need to brush up on my basic terminology, as I've thought of connecting rooms and adjoining rooms as the same thing.
