Warren;
I am pretty new to the whole ff biz. I became an AA gold member this year by accident, I didn't even know it existed until they sent me the card. I was surprised by the little bennies associatied with being gold: business check in, short security line (a big plus at lambert) etc. Then after reading this board I caught the gist of the whole FF deal and realized that with one silly MR I could get Platinum and double miles all next year. Woo hoo, that sent me on my run. Which I never would have done without the advice and support of all the nuts on this board. I still feel kind of silly but I'm sure I will appreciate it next year. I think I have found a new hobby.
I travel some for biz and a lot for pleasure.
I think the key is that I am one of those people that really enjoys flying. I remember as a kid going out to the airport and watching the planes taking off and landing. For some reason or another my own kids feel the same way. They are the only ones I know that can even comprehend a milage run. Flying to us is still fun. I wish everyone could still feel the wonder.
PS I have my private ticket and own a Piper, but the big ones still give me a thrill.
