i called recently to try to "sidegrade" from No Fee CashBack to No Fee Air Miles for the 500 AM bonus and was told it is for new customers only.

i guess sidegrades are a bit of a YMMV as in the past I had no issues upgrading to a premium card from the regular ones & getting the bonus.
