I had this a few years ago in Wellington on the old ticket types with the fully flexible one, and they also said that the fare change did not allow standby.

Does Air NZ even have a standby system on domestic flights? Its not like in the US where you have a load of people waiting by the gate on standby who get called up, never seen that here.
