You said it. We're taking a ten-night Baltic cruise on Windstar in July -- purchased through United Cruises, so we'll get a tidy 40,000 miles afterward for our trouble. The total price in miles for two passengers if booked through the new award site instead? 1.1 million.

Based on the fare we paid, that's a redemption rate significantly below 1 cent/mile. Glad we used our miles on saver J to/from Europe instead.
Then again, I bet the vast majority of award reservations made on the new site will be three-night Caribbean cruises, so pretty sure United will do just fine.
