Scooterdog - my two cents......I prefer 1K via miles, though have done it on segments unintentionally - so my preference is to look for easy, transcon flights with few if any stops and minimal turnaround. If that meets your needs (which it sounds like it does) your best bet in my opinion is LAX-ATL. You get more than the needed 5K miles and will pay $168 with 10 day advance and NO minimum stay. I've got one booked and will do another before the end of the year. By the way, I did not find this on my own - one of the gurus (keithguy, I believe.....) pointed it out. Couldn't ask for an easier run.
