After lurking here for several months (only this year did I start traveling with a new position) I find myself in the middle of November with a shot at making 1P. Mind you, I've never been a 2P before this year, and now I'm looking at a current balance of 43,400 miles and two short trips planned through December for another 2,000 miles.

After reading about all the benefits of 1P I'd like to go for a mileage run from LAX on UA. However having been traveling so much (with a six-month old) I'd like to do my first run on UA from LAX that would get me the 5k miles I need with one or two days of mid-week travel.

Any suggestions? I haven't seen many good fares on UA, should I just sit tight or go for a $188 to Charlotte NC? Thanks in advance for any help.
