There definitely is an orangey character to New Amsterdam gin, as this review describes. I know some people who definitely don't like it for that reason. I don't mind it, but it is different from other gins. I usually only use gin in G&T, so I had not considered the possibilities the article mentions for using New Amsterdam gin in fruit-based cocktails.
