I did a similar connection about 2 1/2 years ago - International connection on BA with a 3 year old, had to change terminals.

We almost missed our flight due to UK security, having to change terminals, etc.

I would request some kind of assistance from BA if possible. LHR is IMO one of the worst airports to connect in especially with children.
