Hello All,
I'm new here, so not sure if starting a thread for my question is kosher (shields self from rotten vegetables and other projectiles).
At any rate, I booked:
YUL-YYZ-SFO AC
SFO-IAD-YUL UA
for my girlfriend, using BMO Rewards points. I was on my way out and didn't realize until the next morning that I hadn't received a confirmation email.
I called BMO Rewards to request the booking info and quickly noticed my GF's last name was misspelled; simply two letters switched in the following manner:
JANE MAE JOHSNON ticket
JANE MAE JOHNSON travel document.
- I was told that there was no way to have the typo corrected by AC and BMOR.
- AC rep told me that there was a $50 charge to cancel flight and rebook with the proper spelling (within 24h of the booking, plus the guy was an unprofessional jerk).
- Now that 24hrs has passed, the ticket is nonrefundable.
- After several hours, convinced BMOR rep to have a note confirming name accidentally misspelled put on all legs of the flight in what I believe the BMOR TA said was the SFPD.
The typo is actually hard to see; last name is a simple yet uncommon Polish surname and to spot it would take some scrutiny. It seems such an insignificant detail, not sure if I should be worrying.
Should I pursue this further? If nothing ca be done, should my GF, upon arrival at the airport mention the discrepancy and SFPD note to the check-in, TSA, and boarding agents, or say nothing and play dumb?
Seems to me by reading the forums there are lots of wrong-name cases but none quite fitting this description.
Thanks in advance for your advice!
CB
