I don't see a big problem. Get an additional card on your wife's account and then you'll be eligible for the dog gold and get priority pass to boot. Also, you'll be able to convert the Amex points to your spg account rather than your wife doing it and then moving between accounts.

Also you'll then get the gold bonus points and the spg Amex points.
