I think that United would have at least considered honoring the fare if it wasn't so expensive to honor.

Why every single blog had to spread this fare across the internet for $3 in click revenue is beyond me. Bloomberg found about the fare when it was still live, which is a first. That simply highlights the reach of the blogosphere, and shows that their publishing of deals will only make it less likely that the airlines can afford to honor them, even if the blogs aren't the ones that 'kill the deal'.

I just wish that they wouldn't publish these fares, unless of course they were the ones that found them. FT is FT and blogs are blogs.

I am just wondering if this would have ended differently if 1000 tickets had been purchased instead of the much greater amount mentioned in this thread.
Simple....its about page hits and being able to say they 'broke the story'.....But I don't think you should be blaming the bloggers for readily available information that they were relaying to readers.

If airlines are smart, they subscribe to every blog's feed...I'm surprised that this deal lasted as long as it did and no one from United either on FT or twitter, etc. didn't see this and have it killed immediately. But we are talking about United in this case so expectations need to be tempered.
