I'm just impressed and a little jealous about the OP's and the OP's family member's OpUp record... far better then mine

No, you don't get a GGL-reflection as a Gold recipient and anyway in truth I don't believe GGL confers any higher OpUp likelihood than Silver or Gold from my (and other anecdotal) experience. I suspect it's route and cabin dependent in this case and the OP has one of those "fortunate" routes as their regular journey
