While I don't doubt that the airline can claw back the miles for the flight, or perhaps cancel a FF account, if they denied boarding/cancelled the ticket it would be an IDB, and a DOT complaint would be in order. DOT would not look kindly on that....
This all said, at some point congress just needs to overrule the ruling that the 1978 ADA preempts state tort laws, that would fix a lot of things wrong with the American airlines in a red hot jiffy!
