1. DL's COC expressly notes that equiptment and service standard are subject to change. That's the end of the comensation issue. Period.
2. The analogy games are inapplicable and almost always are. It's not "like" anything.
3. I take it that the alternative here was to cancel the flight.
4. This brings us to a customer service gesture. The 12.5 K miles referred to above would be a tidy sum and anywhere between 10-15K the limit of what's to be expected.
If demands for compensation are made, DL will simply reject them. If the request is framed as a request that DL make it right, that may get OP somewhere.
