I booked a trip to Rome on US Airways using the bestfares travel agency. Paid $393 plus $10 booking fee for LA-Rome traveling this past December. Bestfares is very ethical as I never had any problems with them. Got the upgrades, miles, bonuses, etc. Trip made me Chairman's! I believe that their agency gets decent discounts from US Airways and these prices are not usually available from the airline. (I would check all the sources to be sure).

The agency gave me 24 hrs to ticket. I checked with the airline twice and I would earn miles. (I did earn 65K miles w/bonuses on that trip and got the upgrade confirmed on the return right after I'd bought the ticket--I was US Gold at the time).

I believe that the fare is a 'K' fare and can be upgraded using either old or new systemwides. (not the dreaded 'V' fare code). Hope this helps.
