I agree. I find both the Holiday Inn and Park Royal to be incredibly overpriced for what they are. If you only want a shower and a bed then the Ibis is fine.
The Holiday Inn in particular appears to have had nothing invested in it since I started staying there in the early 1990's!
Holiday Inn had a lot of work done on a fair number of its rooms in the last couple of years
If all the person wants is a budget hotel with a bed , then Ibis will probably do the trick , but I know that I would like a bit more than that if I had just travelled 24 hours through 9-11 time zones
The cost of the hotel does vary a lot ime depending on dates
