How can there not be a Hilton-branded property in Montreal now?
My theory is that the new owner wasn't interested in paying the annual fee to Hilton to carry the brand. He must have made a calculation that the name Bonaventure is likely to carry some weight for some time.

For instance, let's say that fee is 3M$ and the annual sales are 20M$ After the 3M$ fee to Hilton, the gross revenue is 17M$. If the new owner generate 17M$ and more, there is no need for him to get a brand name. I suspect that the hotel will remain nameless for at least 12 months, and then the new owner will take the stock and evaluate his options.

BTW, it seems that the new owner of the Bonaventure is a good friend of the new owner of the Concorde Hotel in Quebec City, which is a no name too, after being a Loews for over 3 decades...
