I just did a side by side comparison - the culprit is "US Transportation Tax." $45.80 for Canadian credit card, $7 for a US credit card. But again - why is that based on the billing address of the card?
It isn't to do with the billing address of the card per se , it is to do with where the ticket is issued. If you use a Canadian address, AA will price in CAD plus issue the ticket in Canada rather than the US. Since the ticket will be issued in Canada, it will have to charge the taxes as applicable for tickets issued in Canada
Similar applies for ticket sales for domestic travel in Australia. Any ticket issued in Australia wll have GST applied on it, but have the ticket issued by an agent elsewhere , then the GST component will not be charged
