Evidently even Thais have a hard time understanding "Thainess"...unless one considers scores of 58 and 35 (average, for Thai and Social Science) to be acceptable. Even Field Marshall Prayut has complained that the Prathom 1 (first grade, primary school) textbooks are too challenging.

English scores also fell from 31 to 29 this year while mathematics decreased from last year's figure of 25 to 20. For physics, scores dropped from 28 to 26 this year.
This year, the average score in every subject ranged between 20-58. Thai, social science and chemistry enjoyed the highest average scores at 58, 35 and 31, respectively.
