AA.com fare differences between US and CA issued tickets
This one grates me, I have to admit.
I have taken to providing a 'fake' US billing address when I book tickets on aa.com. Why? Because they charge artificially inflated prices when they see I'm booking with a Canadian credit card.
Case in point: YYZ to NYC, $195 US. No problem. But as soon as you tell AA that you're using a Canadian-billed credit card, it wants to reprice to $270 CAD. (For reference sake, Google has it listed right now: $195US = $244 CAD.)
I can handle $244. I can even handle a minor surcharge - make it $250, which is what I'm going to end up paying after converting to US funds. But... $270?
It does this time and time again, for every ticket I want to book on AA.com, even if I use a US dollar credit card. If the address is Canadian, it wants to charge me in artificially inflated prices.
I've gotten around it by simply using a fake US Billing address, and it gets through the security checks and allows the charge. But is that going to get me in trouble some how?
