I've never really paid attention. But they seem to only take a day or two. I wouldn't bet the farm that you'll have them in time to get another rental within 2-3 days though. Sometimes they don't even charge my card until the Monday after I return on Friday, and the points aren't going to be added before they get their payment.

Also, rewards rentals require 24 hour advance notice.
