Surprised that nobody posted about the burst pipe last Monday.

At 4am a pipe burst and guests had to evacuate their rooms (lots of fun in the worlds tallest HI).
There was a lot of confusion as hotel employees at the beginning sent people back to rooms and the fire department made them walk downstairs again. Also the communication over loudspeakers did not work at all during the evacuation (initially there was an announcement to wait for staff to investigate, after that it was just the alarm and an "attention please, attention please" every few minutes)
No information from the hotel for a very long time.
When I walked 40+ floors back to my room to pack I met several people who had not left their rooms at all and had no clue what exactly was going on (that was past 9am, phone lines at the hotel were still down, but the the water had stopped and guests were able to return to their rooms to pack).
Some people carried their stuff downstairs themselves and the hotel started to organize people to carry bags downstairs. I am not sure if there was any logic behind whose bags were carried first, I was unlucky and had to wait until the evening (I left at some point to go somewhere warmer than the lobby).

The hotel refunded the one night affected by this. Guests were relocated to other hotels. I checked out that day and was not offered the possibility to go to another hotel until check out time.

There was little to no information from hotel employees on what happened. I can understand that you need time to react, but I did not have the impression that there was a real plan in place even after some hours.
