I've been intrigued by the Zilara Cancun as a honeymoon destination so I actually wrote up a honeymoon plan (before I had even seen your post) for nine nights in Cancun that includes 4 nights at the Zilara. Feel free to take a look at

If you're able to fly out of PHL/EWR then maybe BWI is an option too. The upside to using BWI is there are multiple nonstop flights to/from CUN daily.
So it is going to be Zilara Cancun. December 15th through December 26. Just got my 20k bonus for the stay more play more and hit 300k points.
While Cancun can be a little touristy and more Miami Beach than true Mexico we are really excited for our trip in 10 months. We chose it for the following reasons.
1: Miles of Beach. We love to walk the beach. Sunrise, Sunset or Mid-day. Nothing like sand under your feet.
2: Hotel is done with any renovations. We also we impressed with all the reviews we read on multiple sites of the property.
3: Flights. There is a flight out of JFK that gets us in at 11:30pm at night. I have some unused Marriott points and will stay at Courtyard CUN Airport on the 15th and then head over to the Zilara first thing on the 16th. And on the 26th a late afternoon flight back to Philadelphia.
4: Great day trips very short distances from the hotel. Excited for Tulum and Isla Mujeres. Will spend a half day sport fishing. Snorkeling another.
5: If we want to get some retail therapy or go one night to a gourmet restaurant or go to a club...Cancun has everything.
6: It is safe
7: Did I mention the Beach
