It probably makes no difference to your trip as you seem well heeled. But be aware some Indian states charge the added hotel tax's at rack rate and not the rate you pay. I know Tamil Nadu hotels do this.

If you book a hotel with a 75% discount off rack, the added tax bill at checkout could account for an additional 30-40% on top of what you expect to pay. It was an extra 2k for our trip last year.
