I'm flying to YYZ in the summer and want to upgrade me & my wife from CW to First using Avios miles. Got told by BA sales two different things, 1 - Call back every month or so to check availability. 2 - Call about a week before flying as all of the Avios upgrades have gone for now and thats when the next batch will be released.
I have by my own admission being phoning them a lot to check for upgrades and did managed to upgrade my daughters from WTP to CW for only £80 each plus 10,000 Avios. So what now stop calling until 10 days before or keep phoning them about every 6 weeks?
Side note - I did upgrade my daughter last year about 3 days before flying with Virgin using "Flying Club Miles". So option two does sound about right.
