How much are you talking about in terms of cost? A one way ticket on Vanilla Tokyo/Taipei is, what, Y10-12,000? Is it really worth the cost of small claims? Easier to just cancel, take the cancel fee cost, book again (on a different carrier)? If you do go to small claims then how are you going to show that their systems were in error? There's no requirement for them to produce evidence for you, so you've got no way to prove anything, and on a reasonableness measure it's going to be more reasonable that you made a mistake somehow rather than their systems truncated your name to one letter.
