You could get away referring to a fellow poster under option 2 but not really with option 1 but it doesn't really matter.
I'm not "getting away" with anything! It's correct and standard English... You're right it doesn't matter, but you're the one who brought it up! (Not that I'm insulted or thought you were trying to be insulting or anything in case it reads that way!)
