If there were a rumor about why, I might even run to the internet with it, so I can see why OP posted about it. But look at it this way - a lot of conditions look like drunk. Very few of them smell like drunk, though. If someone was spouting a bunch of nonsense but didn't smell like a distillery, don't jump to drunk. And if I'm reading this thread correctly, the family member(s) texting the story made no mention of that. AS is never going to tell you what happened - if the employee was drunk, that's damaging to them. If the employee wasn't drunk but sick, that's a private matter that they shouldn't be disclosing (or in certain cases, may be illegal for them to do so).
Whatever the case, I do find it unprofessional that other Alaska employees told pax that the FA was drunk, whether or not it's true. That accomplishes nothing for the delayed pax OR the company, and as a manager, they'd be getting an earful from me (disclaimer: I'm in insurance, not the airline business, and I incorporate all of CDKing's disclaimer except that I don't think we're employed by the same company).
At SEA, ANC, LAX, or PDX sure, but how are you going to call in an additional crewmember at an outstation?
