the problem is that noise cancelling headphones do a great job of silencing lower frequency noises (i.e., engine noise). they don't do as well with things like babies crying.


i'm usually better able to hear a conversation in the air with my QC20s on, since background noise is reduced. along the same lines, a crying baby generally becomes more obvious.
