Crew didn't check cabin properly

Last week I flew transatlantic on an AA-operated flight, and noticed something that was off.

Cabin crew never checked for seat belts, electronics being off or lose items that weren't stowed properly at take-off. They got into their little seats well before the actual take-off, and other than making an announcement, no one checked anything.

Same story at landing. Captain requested crew to prepare for landing, and all they did was send one flight attendant through the cabin to collect trash, again not checking seat recline, electronics, seat belts, anything. Especially the electronics part was odd as the captain ordered all to be turned off due to low visibility. They were in their little jump seats more than 10 minutes before touching down.

Now, I have taken this exact flight about 10 times before, and this never happened. I also didn't miss it happening, they for sure did not check the cabin both times. It seemed odd at takeoff so I paid extra attention at landing.

Everything was fine, no turbulences or anything, so fortunately nothing happened. bBut I feel like they clearly didn't follow the usual protocol. Could there be a reason they did that? Should I complain to the airline or even the FAA? I would at least like to find out why this occurred.
