Also keep in mind that A translates to First Class on some carriers and might be the reason you got a C printed on the pass at the check-in machine in BCN - they might be aware there is no first and will print just C, but they might not know the finer detail of SK Plus.
Worked that way in SFO as well. Upgraded with points from Y to C (which does not give you lounge access) and the UA and EVA agents let me into the lounge with even taking a closer look while in ORD I was denied entry to the LH lounge on a point upgrade ticket and had to produce my shiny diamon AMEX card which 95% of all agents will not accept without discussion as a Gold card since it looks "silver". (btw: Great marketing AMEX and SK!)
The A class ticket was printed in CPH, so that might be why. But even on my most recent OT upgraded trip from BRU, I printed the boardingpass in the machine and I'm pretty sure it still said it.
Interesting that the points upgrade doesn't give loungeaccess.
As for the diamond card, I agree it looks silly (from pictures

), but I even had an UA lounge dragon try to deny my gold MC, because "it has to say gold under the star alliance logo"..
