Keep in mind that now Marriott has a CX policy of the day before. Before this it was usually 4 or 6pm day of so if faced with well wheres ____ a person was able to say they will be here later and when not allowed to checkin call up and have the cert owner simply CX the res. That cant be done since the deadline to CX is the day before and if they dont show and check-in the hotel can ding them as a non-show and charge their CC and still not allow you or whomever is trying to use the cert to occupy the room
So just make sure you dont chose a hotel with a very high rate, just in case it hits the fan
Really helpful advice! Maybe I'll have my mom email the hotel in advance shortly before the cx deadline to just ask (nicely!), something like, "my plans have just changed, but my son is still coming to XXX city...can he check in with the reservation as is?"
The certificate is going to expire, so I might as well just ask.
Thanks again for your insight!
