Probably some derivative of embalming fluid!
In all seriousness, when I was a soldier, we endured several lectures and practical exercises concerning survival techniques. One thing that always stuck in my mind was a hypothetical aeroplane crash landing "somewhere remote, flanked by jungle".
"Right, men! Imagine the aeroplane is on the ground - in pieces, but didn't burn up. You've set up your emergency radio beacon, you've set up a basic bivvy for shelter and to keep your group together. What could you salvage from the aeroplane to help you survive the first few days?"
To a man, we all started with "raid any food left in the galleys."
"Think about it!" our sergeant sneered "That stuff is packed full of preservatives - saltier than Lot's wife's a55 and enough sugar to give your dentist baby kittens! Sugar and salt are going to wreck your body's water regulation and make you thirsty! You can survive without food longer than you can without water so think about that first!"
