KIRO newscast
An interesting (and related) segment on KIRO news tonight talking about the growing number of service animals and how easy it is to get documents for them. (even thought they are not really even required if its a service dog performing a task related to their disability) They had a person from the state on who said any business has the right to ask what the task is the service animal is performing and if that can't be answered they have the right to remove the animal from the premises. As for "emotional support animals" she said they do not perform any specific task and the business owner has the right to remove them. She said most business owners are afraid to do so out of fear of getting sued but if they ask those questions and the animal owner can not respond they have the right to remove them and if the situation was brought to them they would support the business owner.
Hopefully Alaska was watching and will follow up. I too have noticed a significant increase in the number of animals (mostly dogs) on board several of which have been not well behaved. In one instance, two dogs were one row apart and several times during the flight started barking at each other. I felt bad for the flight attendants. (not so much for the owners)
